2.5 million tourists come to Naples (although it doesn’t feel very touristy) and I’m one of them – an avid enthusiast of Italy and Italian culture as well as food. My main interest apart of all the touristy bits is also checking the feng shui of the Italy 3rd largest city, it’s history, culture and the vibe.

The energy flow of Naples
Like many Italian places, Naples is hilly with flowing energy which nourishes different parts of the city. The best way to experience Naples is to use one of the four funicular lines and other public transport in the city. Or you can use a vespa (if you’re brave enough to ride of city’s cobbled streets and you don’t mind its relaxed approach to safe driving) to meander through Naples avoiding chaotic traffic and feeling free to stop anywhere you like to enjoy the many views of the city.

Predecessor law of Naples
Settled by ancient Greek, approximately 2000 years BC, Naples is very old with a huge predecessor chi. Herculaneum offers great insight into the history of Naples.

The heart/s of Naples
The  Piazza Trieste e Trento is the equivalent of Picaddily Circus in London. Other important hearts of Naples are Piazza del Plebiscito, Piazza Dante, Piazza Gesù Nuovo, Piazza San Domenico Maggiore, Piazza Bellini. But Naples natives consider the Spanish quarters’ area to be the heart of Naples with its unique, authentic narrow streets, six-story apartments and rough vibe. Naples’ piazzas are reservoirs of energy and interest.

Castle Nouvo which was built in 1282, offers some views of Naples and the port.

Fire element
Mount Vesuvius and volcanoes near Naples have been quiet for 500 years but this may change any time.

The energy of Italian foods
The pizza was invented in Naples. You can have a go at your own pizza making and there are many places where you can learn how to make pizza. Mozzarella di bufala comes from Naples and it’s much better for your health because buffalos (as well as goats and sheep) make a different protein – casein A2 which is much healthier than cows’ milk casein. Why? According to Steven Gundry, the author of “Longevity Paradox: How to Die Young at a Ripe Old Age, “About two thousand years ago, a spontaneous mutation in northern European cows changed the type of protein in their milk from casein A2 to casein A1. During digestion, casein A1 can turn into beta-casomorphin-7, an opioid peptide53 that attaches to the pancreas’s insulin-producing cells and prompts an immune attack (and thus inflammation.)”  Also, buffalos transform the copper-coloured beta-carotene in what they eat into colourless vitamin A, while cows skip that step.

“Italy was the only place I’d visited where people described kitchen implements as having souls of their own.”
— Jen Lin-Liu, author of On the Noodle Road: From Beijing to Rome with Love and Pasta

Lucid dreaming and lottery
You may have noticed that when you travel to different places with different vibes, you may have different dreams. Naples offers such an opportunity for dreaming and lucid dreaming as well as combining it with gambling. La Smorafia is a guide to the meaning of dreams in relation to lottery numbers and can be seen in most lottery shops (and there are numerous ones, almost on every corner). If you’re feeling lucky you can try your luck in one of the lotto outlets. Neapolitans have been obsessed with luck – probably because of the threat of the volcano eruption.

Nativity presents
Italy is hugely Catholic and famous for its tradition of Christmas presents and Christmas Alley.

Feng shui of Capri

Getting to Capri from Naples is easy (or Sorrento) – with a ferry (45 min) or hydrofoil and then to reach the town of Capri by another funicular railway line or by taxi from always busy Marina Grande. Located in southern Italy, Capri was first inhabited by Greek in the 8th century BC. Granita (a lemon drink) is the local drink to try in Capri. Capri is only about four miles long and a half miles wide beautiful and romantic island but full of fancy boutique shops with top fashion brands as well as thousands of tourists. Actually, tourists or daytrippers represent one type of Capri and the other one is rich and famous who stay in five-star hotels or private palaces and yachts and superyachts.

Capri is a perfect embodiment of feng shui credo ie wind-water where the perfectly blue water meets crystal clear air with expansive vistas.

The Piazzetta
The official name of this world-famous public square in Capri is Piazza Umberto 1. In Caprese dialect, it’s called chiazza, but people refer to it as the Piazzetta. The clock tower chimes every 15 minutes marking time throughout the day in this Capri. Narrow, meandering streets, whitewashed facades and juniper, myrtle and lemon trees create a vibrant and inspiring feng shui of the place.

Peak panorama
At 1932 feet high, the island’s highest point, Monte Solaro provides a spectacular view of the island with clusters of villas, blue water and yachts moored in the coves.

Food in Capri
Caprese salad with just a few key ingredients: vine-ripened tomatoes, milky mozzarella, aromatic basil leaves and a drizzle of sharply flavoured olive oil is a must to try when in Capri. Capri’s most famous dessert is a dense,  flourless (gluten-free) chocolate cake made with just toasted ground almonds, dark chocolate, sugar and eggs.
