Jan Cisek is an environmental psychologist (MSc) and a feng shui and vastu shastra consultant with over forty-five years of professional experience. His consultancy practice, based in London and serving clients internationally, focuses on creating homes and workplaces that support health, performance, emotional balance and long-term quality of life by integrating classical feng shui principles with environmental psychology, building biology and contemporary research.
He is currently completing a PhD at Liverpool John Moores University, United Kingdom, within health psychology, titled Feng Shui Application in Bedroom and Workplace Designs: A Scientific Study of Personal and Transpersonal Preferences. His doctoral research examines how feng shui informed design influences wellbeing, performance and subjective experience, using methods that include virtual reality simulations of bedroom and workplace environments and psychophysiological measurement. His research speaks directly to the central question of this webinar: which effects attributed to feng shui can be demonstrated, by what mechanisms, and within what limits.
He also holds a Diploma in Practical Spirituality and Wellness, the first vocational qualification in this field accredited through the UK Ofqual framework. Feng shui was originally conceived as a spiritual practice, rooted in Chinese cosmology, ancestral rites and the ritual siting of graves and dwellings. The diploma is grounded in the extensive peer-reviewed literature on spirituality, meaning, and health, comprising several thousand empirical studies (Koenig, King, & Carson, 2012).
