2014 The Year of the Wood Horse

1) Buy a wooden horse
This could be any physical (toy) horse, ideally made of wood or paper (paper belongs to the wood element) or a horse in any material preferably in a green colour (wood element). A photo of a wooden horse is fine too. Place it in your home – anywhere you like, for example, around the front of the door, in the living room, or any specific area of the bagua that you want to optimise and energise. So if prosperity and money are important for you in 2014 then place the horse in the wealth corner of your house/flat/room/bedroom. Have a look at this selection of wooden horses 

2) Energise the area of the bagua where your star resides in 2014
There are many different ways to energise the bagua of your home. The most common and easiest are light (lamps, candles), crystals (prismatic crystals such as rainbow makers), shiny metal objects, fish tanks, water features and plants (especially money tree – Crassula Ovata). Remember that feng shui = intention + your energy + ritual. Your intention is the most important aspect (60%), then your energy (30%) and the ritual is the least important factor (10%). It’s how you do feng shui – ie the intention behind the placement that counts. Where you place the money plant is not that critical – the money plant will work anywhere you place it. Ideally, facing east, south, west – because it likes sun. So think about what you want to happen in 2014, write it down (the first step in manifesting) and then think which area of the bagua you need to activate and with what kind of ritual. 3) Hang a wind chime in the north-west part of your home
The Chinese believe that the negative influence in 2014 will be coming from the north west. Hang a shiny metal wind chime in the north west part of your home. If it’s not appropriate decoration for some reason, any shiny metal object will do instead.

4) To boost prosperity in 2014
Hang a horseshoe (or two) above your front door.

“I understand that it (feng shui) works whether you believe in it or not.” said Niels Bohr, Danish Nobel Prize winner in Physics, when asked why he has a horseshoe above his door.

5) Wear something brand new to mark a new beginning
This ritual is one of my favourites. If you want something new to happen to you – do something new! Wear something brand new. Chinese love red and gold colours so wear something in those colours on the 31 January 2014.

6) Get eight oranges (or do a Feng Shui Orange Peel Blessing Ceremony). This is a traditional ritual for every Chinese new year.

7) Go for a Chinese meal
Celebrate the Chinese New Year in a Chinese restaurant. Book you restaurant now, because it’s going to be a very busy night!

8) Do some space clearing
Get rid of (old) things to allow for new things to come into your life in 2014. This feng shui ritual should be your default/regular ritual throughout the year. One of the best remedies is this space clearing mist.

9) Write down a list of your dreams and goals for 2014 
Writing them down is the first step to help materialise your dreams and goals. Use the SMART criteria if you want to be more precise. Or you can just write down some keywords that codify what you want. For example, ‘good health’, ‘slim fit body’, ‘double my income’, ‘meet a new partner’, etc. You can then turn these into affirmations to help you focus (following the principle: ‘You get more of what you focus on’). One easy way to use affirmations is to use them as a password for your online activities. For example, if you want ‘to be healthy’ or have ‘a fit slim body’ your password could be ‘iHealthyNow14’ ‘iFitSlimBody1’. The intention behind these examples is very clear:  ‘2014MyIncomeX2’  or ‘iMeetSoulMate’. Always add capital letters and a meaningful number or symbol to your password at the beginning, in the middle or at the end to create a strong password.

Use your mobile phone screen for virtual feng shui rituals

10) Use virtual feng shui on your mobile phone

11) The power of the horse
Research and meditate on the symbolic powers of horses to resonate with their characteristics. “The horse spirit animal symbolizes personal drive, passion and appetite for freedom. Among all the spirit animals, it is one that shows a strong motivation that carries one through life. The meaning of the horse varies depending on whether this animal spirit guide is represented as wild, tamed, moving freely or constrained.” Be careful what kind of image of the horse you choose to have in your home or on your mobile phone. 12) Do any ritual that will make you feel good
You don’t have to do all of these feng shui rituals. Remember, if a particular feng shui ritual doesn’t make you feel better – don’t do it! Feng shui is very practical and adaptable. In short, feng shui = intention + your energy + ritual. Remember, the Chinese New Year celebrations last for at least five days (traditionally this year from January 31, 2014 to February 18, 2014) and as the above feng shui principle states – the intention is the most important thing, so you can really do any of the remedies at any time during the year.

2013 The Year Of the Water Snake

Feng shui tips for the Chinese New Year (10 February 2013) – The Year of The Snake (Water Snake)
Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year 2013 – The Year of (Water) the Snake and Kung Hei Fat Choi to all.

Please remember that the New Year celebration can last up to 15 days (depending on the tradition) but you have at least five days to do something positive to celebrate it and being grateful to the Chinese for giving us feng shui.

The Snake (蛇) is the sixth of the 12-year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar. The Year of the Snake is associated with the Earthly Branch symbol 巳. In Chinese astorological symbology, snakes are believed to be intelligent with tendencies to be a bit unscrupulous, as well as reserved and contemplative.

Hour and month of the snake energy
The 12 zodiac animals are also used to symbolise the cycle of hours in the day, each being associated with a two-hour time period. The snake hour is 9:00 to 11:00 am, the time when the Sun warms up the Earth when snakes come out of their holes. The ‘month’ of the snake is 5 May to 5 June.

1) Wear something brand new to mark a new beginning
2) Get eight oranges (or do a Feng Shui Orange Peel Blessing Ceremony – please post your protocols for doing it)
3) Go for a Chinese meal
4) Do some space clearing – get rid of things to allow for new things to come into your life in 2013
5) Write down a list of your dreams and goals for 2013. Writing it down is the first step in physicalizing your dreams/goals. It will help you to clarify and crystalise them and then materialize them.
6) Download an image of a snake and use it on your smart phone as a wallpaper. Or get a toy snake (it’s a water snake this year so ideally should be black or blue). Check these snake trends for 2013
7) Research and meditate on the symbolic powers of snakes to resonate with their characteristics. Snakes (serpents) have a long environmental semiotics/symbolism in many cultures from kundalini / enlightenment to sex / reproductive powers to caduceus / medicinal powers and DNA to the biblical Adam and Eve story and so on. Snakes have been regarded as keepers of knowledge – discover what you can learn from them.

The year of the Tiger

Metal Tiger Year – Chinese New Year starts on the 14th February 2010 (Sunday)

The Tiger (寅) is the third of the 12-year cycle of animal zodiac signs in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar. The Year of the Tiger is associated with the Earthly Branch symbol 寅.

Tigers are most compatible with the Dog signs as they are straightforward, honest as well as free-spirited. Tigers are also compatible with the energy the Horse sign. Other zodiac signs such as the Pig, Rabbit, Goat, Snake, Rooster, Ox, Dragon, and Rat can be happy with the Tiger sign. Two Tigers can get along well with each other. Tigers are least compatible with the Monkey signs.

Here are the key feng shui ‘predictions’ for 2010.

Love and relationships

Love will be in the air all year round. It’s interesting that the Chinese New Year start on 14th February (Sunday) – Valentine’s Day. Over a billion people will be celebrating the Chinese New Year, and the rest of the world (6 billion people) will be celebrating love. Set your loving intentions for the year. Communities are going to be very important in 2010. Make an effort to connect to your local community. When walking in your neighbourhood greet people to make a connection – whether it is a ‘hello’ or a smile or just a head nod, start creating local bonds.

Nuclear power

Nuclear power or energy might be out of balance this year. Looking back, most of the Metal Tiger years had some problems with nuclear energy, ranging from technical problems with nuclear reactors (the Chernobyl disaster in 1986) to international military tension regarding the nuclear arsenal (1950).
The year started with nuclear disarmament talks in North Korea. China is an integral part of the negotiations. Tony Blair voiced UK concern over Iran’s nuclear uranium enrichment move. Send out your peaceful thoughts to keep the world in balance.

Money, wealth creation

Water element (which is to do with money and finances) is almost entirely missing in the year of the Tiger. So finances and investments will probably be a bit flat in 2010. To boost your business use water to enhance your wealth corner or career area.
Real estate will do quite well this year because 2010 is also a ‘mountain’ year (8). Place a ball of water or photo of koi carp in the North East part of your home or business. Turquoise is the colour for 2010. It can be used to enhance your finances. Women – buy some turquoise jewellery or fashion accessories. The only month that has an active ‘water’ element in 2010 is April – plan product or brand launches for that month. Then winter naturally has more of the water element, so business should pick up in winter months. July and August can be particularly challenging financially on a global scale.

£20 and £10 bank notes are very significant this year. Place one £20 and one £10 bank note folded three times in your wallet for the whole year 2010 (when unfolded there would be 8 parts). Don’t spend them until the end of the year (if you do, replace them as soon as possible).

Knowledge / education / wisdom

Since 2010 is the year of the mountain (8) which represents knowledge, skills and wisdom, this is a perfect year to learn a new skill to increase your knowledge and wisdom. Enrol on a speed reading course – a great skill for learning to learn.
Since the energy of the mountain is very conducive to meditation and contemplation, you can expect enhanced meditation experiences  – or it’s a great year to start meditating if you’re not doing it already. Research suggests that mediation is the best way to advance personally and spiritually.
This year though, the mountain can also become a volcano, which could manifest itself as some kind of revolution.

Warning

According to classical feng shui, the ‘negative’ energy is coming from the South West this year. Avoid doing too much construction work in that area of your home or business. Hang a wind-chime (ideally six hollow shiny metal rods – but any metal windchime will do) OR place some metal objects if the wind-chime is not appropriate in the South West part of the house/flat/room/property. This is to protect from the negative energies coming from that direction in 2010. Millions of people will do this all over the world this month (especially in the Far East).  If you want to turn around your business or shift to another level with your life do a simple feng shui ritual on 20th May between 3-5pm.
